A standard maintenance visit covers inspection of the spring, cable, rollers, track alignment, and opener force settings, plus lubrication of the moving hardware. On a door with original 1973-era parts, that inspection usually turns into a conversation about what's close to failing versus what still has life in it - we'd rather tell you a spring has another year or two than replace something that doesn't need it yet.
If a torsion spring does need replacing, that's typically a same-visit job once we've confirmed the shaft size and drum type, which can vary more on older installations than newer ones. What takes longer is anything involving a non-standard track width or a drum that's been modified over the years - those sometimes need a part ordered rather than pulled off the truck, and we'll tell you that up front rather than make you wait around for it.
